Cheltenham Day Three Preview
Day Three of the 2019 Cheltenham Festival takes place on the Thursday, with Paisley Park set to go off favourite for the Stayers’ Hurdle which is the showcase race of the day.
The Stayers’ Hurdle is a fantastic heat and involves the runners having to stay three miles over hurdles, with horses such as Big Buck’s, Inglis Drever and Barracuda having achieved legendary status in the past.
Paisley Park has won all four races this year for trainer Emma Lavelle, with the seven-year-old having already won at Cheltenham when triumphing in January as favourite.
The horse won this race by seven lengths, with Paisley Park winning on good to soft and the current favourite can be backed at a decent price.
It appears that Faugheen is going to take his chances in this race and this horse is well-known in the racing world, with the Willie Mullins-trained runner having won a Champion Hurdle before and the horse is now back at the ripe old age of 11.
Faugheen hasn’t been seen since falling at Leopardstown, with Supasundae trading at single figure odds and the same applies to Samcro, although there is a question mark over whether either of the runners will win.
Faugheen has previously shown that he’s able to act over three miles and got close to Apples Jade previously this season, with Black Op and Kilbricken Storm the other runners who could run into a place.
The Ryanair Chase is a fantastic race on Day Three, with punters not quite sure which runners will definitely be lining up for this renewal until close to the off.
Min is currently trading as favourite with some bookmakers but could take his chance in the Queen Mother Champion Chase on the previous day, with Footpad also entered in the same race although either of these Willie Mullins horses could run a big race.
Un De Sceaux has been a regular in this race in recent years and might be another Mullins horse lining up on Thursday, while Monalee the horse more likely to go off and you can get 5/1 about this runner.
Waiting Patiently is the other charge who could go well at single figures although the Ruth Jefferson horse has been disappointing this season and will need the ground to come his way.
The JLT Novices’ Chase gets the Thursday underway and Lostintranslation could be worth backing early, with the horse certain to line up in the opening race of Day Three.
Sire Du Berlais is currently trading as favourite to win the Pertemps, with First Assignment next in the betting, while the Brown Advisory Plate also takes place and Siruh Du Lac is the only horse trading at single figure odds for the renewal.
The Mares’ Novice Hurdle could be a straight shootout between two horses, with Epatante trading at 5/2 and Honeysuckle available at 7/2 with the field trading at bigger odds of double figures.
