Dean Smith’s Villa are flying and look set for victory in this Midlands derby
The Hawthorns should be bouncing on Friday night when two high-flying teams clash in front of the Sky Sports cameras and we’re backing Aston Villa to come out on top.
The Villans are full of goals at the moment. They won 3-0 at Derby before a 4-2 victory in the Birmingham derby. There was then a crazy 5-5 draw with Nottingham Forest before Dean Smith’s side won 3-0 at Middlesbrough.
Smith has a settled XI who look head and shoulders above the other teams in this division, with Tammy Abraham having scored an incredible seven goals in a previous four matches and the striker will be confident of plundering more.
Jack Grealish has picked up after a sluggish start to the season which coincided with a proposed move to Tottenham falling through, while Conor Hourihane and John McGinn are also midfield dynamos who bring an abundance of quality.
West Brom are no pushovers and currently sit third in the table, with the Baggies hoping to win a match which would not only strengthen their automatic promotion claims but also keep Villa at bay.
Darren Moore’s side have won six of their ten home matches this season although they made hard work of beating Brentford on Monday and are defensively porous as fourteen goals conceded at home will testify.
It’s been four matches unbeaten for Albion although Derby recently came to The Hawthorns and exposed defensive frailties when winning 4-1. We’re expecting Villa to do the same here.
