There was an element of concern among the Chelsea ranks regarding Maurizio Sarri and the time it might take to implement his philosophy on his new squad after arriving from Napoli this summer.
This was reinforced by a fairly limp Community Shield showing against Manchester City which saw the Blues soundly beaten 2-0, although the London side were able to click into gear at the John Smith’s Stadium last week.
A 3-0 victory over Huddersfield is possibly to be expected from any top six team this season, although it is a real confidence booster for a team now playing with four at the back which includes David Luiz who has come in from the cold.
It appears that Jorginho is going to make a big difference in midfield, with N’Golo Kante pushing further forward, while Eden Hazard will surely start in this clash after making a sub’s appearance in Yorkshire.
As for Arsenal, they have Unai Emery leading them into battle after Arsene Wenger stood down last season, with the Spaniard having been handed a baptism of fire when losing against Manchester City last weekend.
Emery won’t be thanking the fixture compilers for such a difficult brace of opening matches although he will look for his team to be solidly organised at Stamford Bridge.
Even so, with Hazard back in the team and Pedro looking dangerous, it appears that Chelsea are a good bet if you fancying doubling your money.
