Mauricio Pochettino has a particularly busy December considering that in between the flurry of Premier League matches taking place, he’s also got to engineer a victory at the Nou Camp, arguably the toughest ground to visit in Europe.
The good news is that Tottenham will face a Barcelona team who don’t need to get anything from this Champions League fixture, with Barca having already collected thirteen points from their five matches which means they’re safely through to the next stage.
A 4-2 win for the Catalan side at Wembley looked to have scuppered Spurs’ hopes of reaching the last sixteen, especially as they were unable to win in Eindhoven, although the London side have since rallied with wins over PSV and Inter at Wembley.
Both of these victories have been hard-fought and the 1-0 triumph over their Italian opponents means they have a superior head-to-head record but winning against Barca on their own patch is never an easy task.
That’s especially considering that Barcelona don’t have a winter break and also don’t want to be accused of tanking by Inter, with the Spanish champions looking a backable price to win the game.
