We always an enjoy a London derby and clashes between Arsenal and Chelsea have tended to be spicy ever since Jose Mourinho arrived at Stamford Bridge and clashed swords with Arsene Wenger.
While both of these managers have exited the Premier League stage left in recent times, this remains a big rivalry in English football and Saturday’s clash looks like one that Arsenal surely need to win in order to stand a chance of landing a top four spot this season.
Manchester City and Liverpool will clearly be the top two teams in the table, although Tottenham and Chelsea are within touching distance, especially if Unai Emery’s side can land victory in this game.
The encouraging thing for Arsenal is that the home side haven’t lost at the Emirates since being turned over by Manchester City in their first match of the season.
Since then, it has been eight wins and two draws for the Gunners, with the supporters like to be vocal when they clash with a Chelsea side who aren’t convincing under Maurizio Sarri at the moment.
The Blues are ten points behind leaders Liverpool and have stuttered plenty of times this season, dropping points in eight of their top flight matches although they have been strong enough on the road to win seven from ten games.
They do seem reliant on Eden Hazard who continues to play in the false nine role and we think that Arsenal have the better attacking options even if they can’t be trusted at the back.
With Arsenal’s excellent 4-2 victory over Tottenham in mind, we will take the 2/1 about the Gunners and bet accordingly on what looks to be a big price.
