2018 Open Championship betting preview – Spieth 18/1 to retain Claret Jug

We’re looking at a wide open Open Championship taking place between 19-22 July, with the third major of the year up for grabs and the bookmakers are happy to chalk up the entire field at double or treble figure odds.

Dustin Johnson is available at 12/1 with William Hill to claim a first Claret Jug, with the American having tied for second in 2011 and he’s done well in the major tournaments this year considering he’s tied tenth at the Masters and then landed third spot at the US Open.

However, Jordan Spieth has been in the top four of the Open Championship in two of the past three years, with the Texan having won a year ago after a dramatic final round which saw him reel in Matt Kuchar during the final round.

Rory McIlroy’s wait to land his next major title continues, with the Northern Irishman 14/1 to win in Scotland, while Justin Rose now seems to be among the favourites for every tournament and he’s chalked up at 16/1 with Paddy Power to land the spoils.

Tommy Fleetwood and Rickie Fowler are next in the betting, with both sure to attract plenty of each-way bets and the bookmakers will have some favourable place terms as always.

Justin Thomas, Brooks Koepka and Jon Rahm come next in the betting, while all eyes will be on Tiger Woods at odds of 25/1 who is sure to enjoy rapturous receptions as the American looks to hunt down a fourth Open Championship title.
