Liverpool defender has been heavily punted to win PFA award and is now trading at a best price even money
Virgil van Dijk arrived at Anfield a year ago for the princely sum of £75 million although it’s easier to argue that this represents excellent value for money rather than a flimsy transaction.
The Dutchman has revolutionised the way in which Liverpool defend and the 27-year-old could be in line to win the PFA Player of the Year award come the end of the season, with punters latching on to the fact that he’s been grabbing as many headlines as Mohamed Salah.
Salah was the winner of the award last season when top scoring in the Premier League although it’s his defensive team-mate who appears to be in pole position this time around and several operators now make Van Dijk an odds-on shot to claim the honour.
BetVictor have even money about VVD and many customers will still think it’s a good opportunity to double their money, with Liverpool sitting top of the table and looking likely to win the title.
Salah himself is a 6/1 chance to win the award for the second successive season, with the Egyptian moving through the gears in recent weeks and he ran the Arsenal defence ragged recently.
Perhaps Manchester City will come back into the reckoning and David Silva is available at 6/1 for those that think the Spaniard will scoop the award, although Raheem Sterling might make more appeal at 12/1.
Eden Hazard is a 7/1 chance and the Chelsea midfielder is also enjoying playing an advanced role for the Blues this season, with Sergio Aguero priced at 33/1.
