Liverpool FC remain Premier League title favourites despite defeat

Reds drift to 5/6 to win first title since 1990, while Manchester City now 5/4 to retain crown

It was a pulsating ninety minutes at the Etihad Stadium, with Manchester City running out 2-1 winners and reducing the gap between themselves and Liverpool to four points.

Goals from Sergio Aguero and Leroy Sane helped Pep Guardiola’s team to firmly remain in the Premier League title race and BetVictor now offer 5/4 that the Citizens retain their crown and pip Liverpool to the post.

Jurgen Klopp once again saw his team falter away from home against a big team after previously suffering defeats against PSG and Napoli in a similar way, although the Reds are 5/6 to win their first title since 1990.

The Merseyside team remain in the box seat with a commanding four-point lead and will now look to embark on a winning run that keeps City at bay for the rest of the campaign, with the latter having to be near-flawless to win another title.

Tottenham can’t be completely discounted and they are trading at 16/1 to enjoy a Premier League triumph of their own, with Mauricio Pochettino hoping that his side can go to Anfield and the Etihad to enjoy wins which could give them a lively chance of victory.

Despite a modest performance at the Etihad, Virgil van Dijk remains strong favourite to win PFA Player of the Year, with the Dutchman trading at 4/5 with Paddy Power to scoop the award.
