Liverpool drift to 9/1 on Champions League market after defeat

Jurgen Klopp was at a loss to explain his team’s defeat on Wednesday, with Liverpool failing to carve out scoring chances in Naples and going down by a 1-0 scoreline.

This was supposed to be a demonstration of a slightly new-look Reds overcoming the second best side in Italy, although they ran into brick walls and were undone by Lorenzo Insigne’s late winner.

BetVictor reacted to the defeat by chalking up 9/1 about a Liverpool win in the Champions League, with the Merseyside team now having two matches against Red Star Belgrade and you would imagine they will get a maximum haul from those two games.

That said, Red Star did manage to hold Napoli at home and it appears that the clash between the Reds and their Italian opponents at Anfield could prove decisive in this group.

Liverpool are now 11/8 to win their Champions League group, with Paris Saint-Germain available at 7/4 and Napoli are a 4/1 poke.

Barcelona were a big market mover to win the Champions League after triumphing 4-2 at Tottenham and the form of Lionel Messi suggests that they could go a long way in the competition.
