Liverpool 9/1 to win Champions League after qualifying for L16

Jurgen Klopp and his team celebrated on the Anfield pitch after Tuesday night’s narrow victory over Napoli which saw Mohamed Salah’s goal help Liverpool to reach the last sixteen of the Champions League.

While the Reds will go through as runners-up and therefore could be set for a difficult tie, the bookmakers now offer single figure quotes about them going one better than last season.

William Hill have 9/1 about Liverpool winning the 2019 Champions League although there’s a chance they will face a team like Juventus, Barcelona or Real Madrid at the last sixteen stage.

There is also the fact that the Reds have lost all three away games in the competition to date, although they are a fearsome team at Anfield and their home form essentially helped them get over the line.

Manchester City are the 7/2 favourites to win the Champions League this season and they recovered from a home defeat against Lyon to cruise through the group stage of the competition.

FC Barcelona are a 5/1 poke to win the tournament and they had the luxury of being able to rest players such as Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez for their final group game against Tottenham when landing a 1-1 draw.

Spurs will be guaranteed a difficult last sixteen tie although they will avoid Manchester City and also Barca, with William Hill going 25/1 about the London side and perhaps they could outrun those odds.
