Big Time Dancer was sent to Kempton Park on Saturday hoping to give a good account of himself in the Lanzarote Hurdle, although connections were more optimistic rather than confident that the horse could win.
However, Big Time Dancer was able to oblige against a quality field at odds of 16/1, with jockey Jonjo O’Neill Jnr able to steer the horse to the front of the pack and he managed to land a 1.5 length victory over nearest rival Solomon Grey.
This was the biggest racecourse victory of all time for part-owner Andrew Bell who is also the sole owner of BettingOdds.com, with Andrew at Kempton to see his charge romp home and truly announce himself on a National Hunt stage.
“We were optimistic that Big Time Dancer wouldn’t look out of his depth,” Andrew told BettingOdds.com after the race.
“However, we would have been delighted to see the horse run into a place and the fact that he won so well meant that we are on cloud nine at the moment.”
It’s yet to be confirmed as to where the horse will go next, although Cheltenham Festival and the Grand National Festival at Aintree loom large on the horizon, with trainer Jenny Candlish looking to get the horse primed for another successful run.
Wherever the horse goes next, Big Time Dancer will be bidding for a third successive win after previously triumphing at Doncaster, with bookmakers sure to be trading a shorter price after getting filled in at odds of 12/1 and then 16/1.
